So it was just another friday, like every other before it, and Aimi was dying to get out of school. A few more lessons to go and she could, but first lunch was her priority. With her usual swift bouncy walk, Aimi set out of her lesson and towards the lunch hall, dark locks swinging behind her as her hips swung below her.
She had to wait in the lunch queue, but so did everyone else, and to save herself from looking lonely she flipped her phone out and flicked through her texts. When Kevin's name came up, she smiled and realised he'd probably want lunch too.
Heyhey, you hungry? I'm heading to lunch now, come and meet me =] xxx She texted him quickly and flipped her phone shut just as she got to the front of the line. After a few moments, she had a tray in her hands and was moving towards the food along with the other students.
Hmm, wonder what to eat... she contemplated, before picking up a small carton of cheese fries. Feeling guilty, she also picked up an apple and finished off with a strawberry milk drink. Paying for her food, she moved through the cantine and scared some freshman away from her favourite table, slipping into the seat and rolling the apple away behind the drinks carton while she enjoyed her cheese fries. Her green eyes flickered up and around the cantine, wondering if anyone she knew would show up.

'I'm exactly where I'm supposed to be' Placing the last of three books into his locker Kevin Mariano gave a small smile, to himself of course because he felt accomplished that he had actually completed his homework for the lessons after lunch.Usually it was like a mad rush to finish all of his work at dinnertime and then he never got a chance to eat or socialize but this time he could finally relax.A sudden noise broke him out of his concentration and made him snap back to reality as he slammed his locker shut, wondering who it could be that was texting him he placed his hand into his jeans pocket. It was an odd occasion that he received a text in school, well from anyone other than Aimi or Skye so it had to be one of those two.
Reading through the text that small smile gradually widened into a full, happy smile, before he knew it he began to subconsciously start to walk, it was like he hadn't even made up his mind to go to the cafeteria to meet Aimi yet he was already going.Oh well, no reason to turn back now.He began to walk through the crowded hall, attempting to get past the large groups of people though it didn't seem to be going his way, any other person probably would have pushed through but being the typical Angel that Kevin was known for he just stood there waiting for everyone to clear so he didn't seem like a jerk.
A couple of minutes later he found himself at the doors to the cafeteria, peering through the window to see if he could see his friend he managed to catch a glimpse of the line for food, the very ,very long line.Luckily for him he usually brought a packed lunch and today was one of those days, which canceled out having to get all frustrated and impatient. He opened the door and made his way through as his deep, brown eyes searched for the girl.Lifting his arm in the air slightly when he saw her he gave a small wave and started to walk in her direction "Hey Aimez" he said as he placed his bag on the table and sat next to her.

Aimi smiled as Kevin came into view, she always felt a little subconscious sitting alone in the cafeteria so she was glad for the company. Especially if it was Kevin, of course, she loved hanging out with him. As he sat down, she couldn't help snorting though.
"You brought a packed lunch?" she giggled, consuming some more fries and taking a sip of her drink. "You're such a dork sometimes."
She couldn't help teasing him, it was so easy. And she always teased him, he probably wouldn't take it personally. Just as he always teased her. Continuing to smile, her eyes wandered around the cafeteria and then back to his face.

'I'm exactly where I'm supposed to be' Opening his bag he took out his packed lunch and placed it on the table in more of an organized fashion than it really should have been, he was always like that though, neat and organized no matter what the situation, well minues homework of course.
Waiting for her to speak he looked at her and gave a smile before twisting the lid on his bottle of water, taking a sip he heard her comment and couldnt help but laugh a little.Trying not to spit out the water he quickly swallowed it and let his laugh continue "You can call me a dork all you like, i get to avoid things like that.." he said as if he were the most intelligent guy on earth as he pointed to the lunch line."its five hundred miles long" he joked.
Obviously he was exaggerating, the line was long but he always blew things out of proportion it was just the way he was.Taking a bite out of his sandwich he also looked around the cafeteria, sort of following where Aimi was looking, he wondered if she was expecting someone or if she was just being curious."Waiting for someone?" he asked in a questioning tone when she finally turned back to look at him.

Okay, cheese fries, not such a good idea, she frowned, pushing the greasy food away from her. Food like that always looked super-appetising but it wasn't actually that nice... just layers of grease and fat. She picked up the apple before she grossed herself out too much and began gnawing on that instead.
"Nahh, not looking for anyone," she answered between chews. She sighed exasperatedly and collaped to one side on the table, resting on her arm and spinning the apple under her hand. A small smile appeared on her face and she looked up at him like she knew a secret.
"I know something you don't know," she giggled as she sat up straight again, biting into the apple with a satisfying crunch! "But I know you're going to tell me off if I tell you," she grinned, thinking about her recent day at the beach.

'I'm exactly where I'm supposed to be' Nodding when she replied he continued to chew his sandwich, though he couldn't help but look around the cafeteria at all of his peers. He loved to watch people, it just fascinated him, the way they acted and spoke, the things they did when they thought others weren't watching. It was just amazing. After finishing one half of his sandwich he began to tap the table, getting lost in his own world of thoughts, this had obviously taken place after he watched the royals, they had everything and took it all for granted.
The sudden sound of her voice made him lose his concentration, he turned his head quickly to face her as he raised one eyebrow."Oh really?" he asked, knowing that she was probably going to give him another insight on her life, not that he minded hearing about what she had been up to but it was very rare that he actually approved of what she was doing. She was a wild child in disguise and he happened to be one of the most innocent Angelics of them all so it was quite surprising that they were friends."Care to enlighten me?" he then asked, wanting to hear more.

She watched his expression as he became curious about her lastest escapades. She smiled slightly, always finding she smiled a lot when Kevin was around, he was just one of those people. A bit of a crack pairing, some said, but they were good friends despite it all.
"Okayy, so I met this guy on the beach," she began, knowing already he wasn't going to like this. Maybe a little part of her wanted him to be jealous, but she was not going to admit that. Her green eyes sparkled as the storyteller in her came out. "It was all very flirty, because we both sort of recognised each other from a party last year. You know that one I got completely trashed at and ended up crashing at your house because I couldn't go home to my parents?" she laughed, knowing he probably wouldn't remember that as fondly as she did.
"Well anyway, he's in college now, yumm," she took another sip of her strawberry milk, which also happened to be yumm. "And he said he wants to see me again... I'm not sure what to do, though, I've got a feeling he's a bit of a heartbreaker." She frowned, but only because heartbreakers were a bit of a challenge. They always thought they had the upper hand- when Aimi was around, that was far from true.

'I'm exactly where I'm supposed to be' Kevin didn't make eye contact with her, just looked down at the table waiting for whatever story it was she was about to tell him.But despite the fact that he didn't want to look up to her he did, only when she mentioned that she met a guy.Looking into her eyes he tried to hide his emotions, because he didn't even know what they were.It was like somebody had hit him hard in the chest. But no matter how much he just wanted to be silent , he couldn't, he had to question her."Oh.." was all he said after a few moments silence, he tried to keep his tone upbeat, like he was happy for her and instead of going all protective straight away he just gave a smile and waited for the rest.
When she mentioned the words flirty his smile faded slowly and he nodded."Here we go.." he started making a joke out of it because he wasn't shocked by it at all, most of her stories involved some guy and flirting and making out, all of that kind of stuff.Thinking about the memory she brought up he couldn't quite put his finger on which time that was, mainly because it had happened quite a lot, there were many times when she had got so wasted that she couldn't even make it back to her own house and of course being the sweetheart that he was he would always allow her to stay at his place no matter how much he disapproved of her actions.
"Yeah i remember, i think that was the worst you have been , i mean you hardly remembered anything the next day, i had to fill you in" he stated laughing along with her, yeah he could laugh about it now but deep down he didn't find it funny, he wished she would stop these teenage kicks.Doing a double take of her when she mentioned this guy was in college, he felt his eyebrows forming into a confused frown "woah, wait...college?" he questioned as if he were he father "And how old is he exactly? he wants to see you again?" he couldn't help but break into the protective double question."Well i don't think you should see him again, especially if he is a heart breaker, you will end up getting hurt...and once again I'll be the one picking up the pieces" OK so he was ranting, but he cared for her a lot.

Aimi scowled, feeling a little childish when he belittled her like that. Just because he acted like he was frickin' Jesus didn't mean she had to. She rolled her eyes through his ranting, pouting comically and then fixing her fierce green eyes on him again.
"Ohh, please stop acting like..." she stopped as she tried to think of the term. Don't say big brother, that'd be wierd she thought, frowning and turning away for a minute. "It'll be fine, he definitely doesn't have the upper hand. And he never will. Have you not met me?" she laughed a little nervously. She didn't really get it, but she couldn't read his face and what he was feeling- there was something beyond the usual concern.
"He's nineteen, that's only a year older than me. And what do you mean you'll be picking up the pieces again?" she huffed, all curiosity for what he was feeling out of the way. She just glared at him. "I've never had my heart broken, you know that. I'm the heartbreaker." Wrong thing to say, he's going to hate you now. she panicked.
"I.. I didn't mean it like that. Look, you know I'm not a slut," she leant in closer across the table. "You of all people should know I'm still a virgin." she continued to stare at him hard.
"The only time you have to pick up the pieces is when I go out and get trashed. Which reminds me, this weekend I plan on going clubbing. I was going to ask if I could stay at yours but I guess you don't want me to now." She pushed her chair back, feeling like she'd ended on a weak note. She couldn't make herself get up, though, she just sat there and realised she had probably just said a lot of stupid stuff.

'I'm exactly where I'm supposed to be' Kevin watched as her green eyes glared into his, he could have sworn that he actually felt them burning into his pupils, that was how much of a death stare it had appeared to be.Clearly his rant had hit a nerve in Aimi and in some ways he intended for that to happen but in others he wished it hadn't, he didn't want to start an argument but the way things were going it seemed to be that way.Sighing he listened as she began to speak , he raised his eyebrows and shook his head "like what?!" he questioned sharply "Like a decent friend?" he then added, looking away from her and to the other side of the cafeteria.
Hearing her comment he just blatantly ignored it, he wasn't up for joking now..this situation had led into a bicker and when he got into an argument of any kind he got pretty pissed off.Listening as she mentioned he was only a year older he gave a nod and turned his head back to face her.Obviously he still wasn't ok with it but being as he was a year older it seemed to make things that slight bit better, it wasn't only the fact that he was a college guy that made him turn into protective Kevin it was just yet another story that he had to deal with."i wasn't talking about picking up the pieces of your heartbreak, i meant usually when things go wrong for you in that sense you just get wasted and I'm always there to care for you" he stated.
Frowning in confusion when she stated that she was always the heart breaker he just rolled his eyes.Feeling her get closer he watched her and waited for her to speak "I never suggested that anyway, you know i don't think of you like that" he said bluntly though he wished they were back to normal conversation, he hated being so sharp and snappy with her and of course he could stop if he wanted to but stubborn was one of his personality traits.when he heard the sound of her pushing her chair back after a few awkward moments of silence he stared at her "Don't go.." he finally managed to say "you're always welcome at my place".

Part of Aimi wanted to burst into tears. She had no idea why, she regularly got 'told off' by Kevin and they never took it to heart. What had changed? What had made this time so different? Did he just hate her suddenly?
She swallowed hard, feeling like she wanted to cry but unable to make herself do it. "Sorry." she muttered. She knew it was barely anything to the sudden and stupid bickering, but she didn't understand what had happened. She frowned, looking up at him again, staring straight back at him. She felt like he could just look straight into her very core and see her for the stupid traitor she'd turned out to be.
Okay, so she really felt like crying now. She felt the beginnings of tears start up in her eyes but she daren't let them fall. She looked away to hide them, not even lifting a finger to wipe them out of sight. Why was she feeling so emotional?
"What kind of a friendship is this, if we can't even talk straight to each other anymore?" she questioned the table, speaking so quietly she wasn't sure if he'd heard.
She looked up again, eyes barely watering. "Look, I..." she started, but she didn't know what to say. She just bit her lip and stared at him again, feeling frustrated. She crossed her arms, feeling like closing up. He'd probably always question why she was the way she was, but she couldn't help it, it was just the way she'd chosen to live. And if it meant she was going to hell, what point was there in turning back now?

'I'm exactly where I'm supposed to be' In those moments of silence between them his mind has ran off onto thoughts, thoughts of the two of them.He didn't understand why they had got into such an argument over this because he always told her off it was like a ritual of their friendship infact he would be worried if she didn't tell him some kind of story at least once a week for him to frown upon.Hearing her voice startled him a bit, for one he wasn't expecting her to speak so soon and secondly the word sorry really shocked him, she never said it very often not even to him and he was one of her close friends, he played that word in his head for a few moments before actually replying.
"Don't apologize, i should" he replied quietly, not that it was a pain to say those two words it was just the way their argument had gone he didn't know what to say, they never usually did this, it was usually a quick bicker on what they thought was right and wrong and that was it.Seeing her look away he wasn't sure what to make of it, was she crying? nah she couldn't be, Aimi wasn't like that, was she? About to ask if she was OK he was stopped by the sound of her voice again though it was barely a whisper he still managed to hear it and it hit him hard, it hurt for her to say those things.
"Well if you believe that then maybe i should just go.." he stated, even though he had stopped her from leaving he felt quite hurt right now, he had to leave if she was questioning their friendship.

Aimi looked up, rather abruptly, and stared at Kevin across the table. She was so passed understanding by now, she just let the confusion show on her face. She was not going to work this one out in a hurry, and she could see she'd obviously hurt him because he actually wanted to leave. Ouch, Aimi thought, frowning.
"I don't believe it, of course not," she snapped in disbelief, lifting a hand hesitatingly to her mouth in apology for snapping. She didn't want to apologise verbally again, it'd just get stupid. "I was just... I don't know," she confessed, frowning.
What's happened? she wondered, putting her hands in her lap and balling them into fists under the table. She couldn't place why she was so frustrated, but she was.

'I'm exactly where I'm supposed to be' Kevin began to think about this.He stated he wanted to leave yet his mind was telling him to stay, could he just leave and not settle this? it wouldn't be a good friendship trait if he just stormed out every time things got awkward between the two of them plus they had argued before, this wasn't any different, was it? Looking in he direction he could see she was confused and rather than say anything he just mimicked her expression because to be honest he was confused too, more confused about this than anything else, more confused than he had been for a long time.Hearing her snap at him he just sighed, was this the way it was going to carry on now? All awkward and tense around the two of them, because if so then maybe she was right about what she said.
But he saw that she didn't mean to snap at him, the way she immediately cupped her mouth with her hand proved that.So he shouldn't over react to it right? That would just be a stupid thing to do in this tangled web of a situation."Well you are kinda leading me to think that you don't want to be friends anymore Aim.." he said in a saddened tone as his brown eyes locked onto her, he tapped his fingers against the table not knowing what to do now, if he should apologize again or just stay silent "I'm sorry for going all protective on you, i know thats what started this off so I'm sorry, i cant help it though..but i can try and stop" he pleaded , wishing for her forgiveness so they could just go back to normal, if only things were that simple though.

Aimi sighed loudly, exhasperated still. She folded her arms at stared at him across the table, studying the line of his jaw as he talked and the colour of his eyes. She frowned, trying to figure out what had changed but it was all still strange.
"I don't want to stop being your friend, Kev, of course not," she shook her head and rolled her eyes. "And of course you're being protective, it's what you do," she laughed. "Just like I play 'the innocent flower but be the serpent beneath it'." She quoted Macbeth for effect.
Tilting her head to one side, she made a bit of a puppy-dog-pout face. "At least we get to hang out when I come over to yours this weekend?" she offered, deciding not to mention the words 'clubbing' and 'alcohol' as the reason why she'd be crashing at his again.
