Hungry. That was how Seth Jorden was feeling right now. He was hungry. Quite hungry actually, he needed to find some place to eat as soon as possible or he thought he'd collapse. Okay well that was a bit of an exaggeration but still. He wanted food and he wanted it now. He had not ate since earlier today and his stomach was growling. It was empty and needed to be filled with some sort of food. Any kind would be fine, he just wanted something that would fill him so that he would feel content again. But what should he eat? That was the real question here. There were many choices, many restaurants around here. But where should he go today? He wasn't dressed up so he didn't feel the need to go to some fancy restaurant. Soon the answer popped into his head.
Walking along the sidewalk of the street Seth headed in the direction of where he wanted to eat. He was going to go to Gillis's Diner. They had awesome milkshakes there and other good food too. It was a nice little diner, he went there often. He liked the food and the people that worked there. They were all very nice. The style was pretty cool too, it had a seventies vibe to it. Quickly walking up the street he could see the diner come into view. The flashing sign was as bright as ever. He knew that coming here tonight was a good idea. Speeding up he finally reached the small restaurant.
Brushing himself off he then opened the door. Smiling as he walked inside he looked around. There were actually quite a few people there tonight. It was sorta weird because usually it was quiet. Oh well, that didn't matter to him. Walking in farther it appeared that all of the booths were taken but luckily he spotted an empty one. After speaking with one of the waitresses he went over to it. Sliding into it he looked up as the waitress he had been talking to offered him a menu. He gave her a smile as he took it and then began to scan it, looking at all of the different types of food. After she left him alone to make his decision on what to eat he started to wonder what to get and then if he'd be dining alone tonight.

Nathaniel Devine - who preferred to be called Nate, unless it was by his parents or someone who could get away with it - was lying down on his bed, reading over some case that was his homework for that night. Nate took law as his major, he even played basket ball in the college but today, luckily, there was no practice. Don't get me wrong, the guy loves basket ball, he'd loved it ever since he was a kid, so pretty much ever since he could remember. And it wasn't that he didn't like his major either because why would he take it if he didn't right? But work and basketball together weren't really a good combination, in fact it was a rather tiring one! That was why he was actually glad that he could just focus on that.
He sighed as he ran a hand through his light brown hair, blinking at the screen. The case itself was pretty amusing and was actually interesting but he'd been working on it for a little while so he was just a little.. well, he didn't know, he wasn't tired, he was just.. hungry. That was it, he was hungry! Maybe he could get something to eat later to cool himself off. That was why he sat straighter in his chair and quickly finished typing the rest of the essay, suddenly ravenous.
A few minutes later he pulled up into the parking lot of Gillis's Diner, the most perfect place for cooling down. It was known to have the best cool treats around, it was also a place where he loved going, meaning it was the perfect place for when you just finished a huge essay and needed something to make you feel better. He walked in and grinned as he saw the waitress, since he was there a lot he knew who she was. Hey Rixey. How are you doing, gorgeous? he asked. Well what?! He was in the 'heart breaker' clique for a reason! As she answered him with a giggle and asked him what he would like he looked at the board .. I'll have a mint chocolate ice cream he decided. As she went off to get it he looked around for a place to sit.
His blue eyes stopped as he saw a familiar face. Seth Jorden. His jaw clenched as he went over to the table, not even asking as he took a seat Seth he said Been a while since I've seen you around.. he said.

Staring down at the menu he contemplated on what he should get tonight. He wasn't really sure, there were so many choices and all of the food was good so that made things even harder. He scratched his face as he continued to look. When he touched his face it felt coarse which made him come to realize that he hadn't shaved today. Like that matter though, he'd probably just be alone tonight so it didn't bother him. Setting his hand back on the table he smiled when the waitress came over to him. "Hello Rixey" He said as he looked up at her but then back down at his menu, "Um.. I think i'll have my usual tonight, cheese burgar and fries with a chocolate shake" He stated closing his menu while Rixey wrote down his order in her small note pad. When she was done writing it down she said that it'd be about 10 minutes before it would be ready. He gave her a slight nod and passed her the menu.
Seth then watched as she walked away towards another customer who she began talking to. He didn't bother to pay much attention to who she was talking to. It's not like it was going to affect him. Well that's what he thought. He turned his gaze from the woman to the window. He began to watch as different cars drove by on the street. It wasn't very exciting but it could keep him amused while he waited for his food. Still looking out the window a voice broke his concentration. He blinked and looked over a bit surprised at the other guy who was now sitting at the same booth as him. He hadn't noticed him at first but now that he had he couldn't believe it. It was Nathaniel Devine, or well he prefered to be called Nate but still. He was Stephanie's older brother.
Seth still hadn't spoke yet but was happy to see him. Wait nevermind, he was happy for a second but didn't show it. Now he was a little nervous. See back when Steph and him were dating he hung out a lot with Nate. They had become really good friends but then when the big Kristina thing happened, causing Seth and Steph to break up Nate had become really mad at him. He had been really mad at Seth for hurting Stephanie so badly. Seth had always tried to explain that he hadn't meant to, that it was Kristina who had kissed him but it just didn't work. He wasn't sure if they just hadn't believed him or what. All he knew now was that this would definitely be a little weird. They hadn't spoke in almost a year now. "Um.. yeah Nate.. it has been a while" He said as he looked over at him. He hoped that this didn't go horrible, he sorta hoped that he'd be able to get his friendship back with Nate. He missed it.

It was quite weird seeing Seth again, at first Nate had been unsure of how to react to the guy. At first he'd actually been quite happy to see his old friend again, happy because that meant they could catch up on some things, just like it used to be with them, just talking about school and all the stuff like that, just like friends did. But that was the main point of it, that was how they used to be, it was past tense, meaning it was all in the past. Things were different now, it was the total opposite of how it used to be between them. Nate realized that and that was what made him change his mind. That was the detail that made his greeting a little cold, and it seem a little harsh. That was the way things were now. Though it was kind of weird, the sudden change in attitude. Instead of the old 'dude, whats up?!' thing, that it would of been, it was now.. well, this. The blank look, the clenched jaw, the trying really hard not to yell at the guy for what he'd done. Yeah, it was too different. It took more than a year to get used to.
So what was the problem exactly, what caused this attitude, why was there a sudden change in a year? That was because Seth Jorden had been dating Stephanie Devine. Yeah, same last name as Nate, that was because that was his little sister. At the time, while Seth and Steph had been dating, him and Seth had been close as well, they'd been good friends. Then, all of a sudden, things changed, and not in a good way. At all. Seth and Steph had broken up, why? Because of their two best friends who'd been in love with them, and because Seths best friend, Kristina and him had kissed. Now, that was why Nate really wasn't all that happy with the guy. You couldn't blame him though could you? The guy hurt his sister! Nate was overprotective like that, mess with anyone he cares about, and he would get really mad.
His blue eyes narrowed as he heard Seths reply. Suddenly a blank look appeared on his face, no emotions at all, he wanted to tell him not to call him Nate, that only his friends called him that, but he stopped himself. He would rather be called Nate by someone that wasn't exactly his friend then being called Nathaniel. Again, only a few people could get away with that, and of course his parents, but that was when they were mad, then it was the full Nathaniel Aaron Devine! That was why he let that go but still replied Wonder who's fault that is.. he said, his voice cold. He sat back in his chair and looked at his former friend, How are you doing? Talk to any certain brunette that goes by the name Kristina lately? he asked. OK, maybe that was a little harsh, as soon as the words escaped his mouth he wished that he wouldn't of asked the second question. A part of him wanted ot be okay with it but then the more bigger part was too stubborn for that. Besides, the words were already out, he'd already said them, there was no way he could take them back and there was no way he was apologizing.

This wasn't going to go well. It was really annoying and slightly frustrating but Seth could tell. It was the way that Nate looked at him. He could see it in his eyes. The cold tone, the clenched jaw. Right now Seth was a little scared. Nate could hurt him if he really tried. He was much stronger and was already angry with him. It made him feel intimidated but luckily he was still wearing his sunglasses so it masked his eyes. That way Nate wouldn't be able to see that he was fearful right now. Or at least he hoped that he wouldn't be able to. If he did then he could probably take advantage of it. Why did he have to be Stephanie's brother? Like seriously what were the chances of it. They use to be such good friends, Nate would always stick up for him and they could just have a good time around each other. Now because of what had happened they lost it.
It's not like Seth didn't feel bad about what had happened between him and Stephanie. He regretted it every day. He hated it. Why couldn't he had just have a normal best friend and not one that was in love with him. It sucked because not only had he lost Steph but he had lost Kristina too. Nothing had turned out right. There were many days that he had just wished that he could create a time machine and go back in time so that he could fix that day so that it had never happened. Maybe then him and Steph would still be the happy couple that they had use to be. However that probably wouldn't have been true as Krissy hadn't been the only problem. Stephanie's best friend Kasey hated Seth and had been in love with her also. That was someone else who he had been intimidated by. Seth always felt scared that if Steph found out about Kasey that she'd leave Seth for him. After all Kasey would have been a perfect boyfriend. He was handsome, rich and popular. Everything that Seth wasn't.
He listened as Nate spoke and a frown quickly appeared on the young man's face. Why did he have to be this way. Couldn't they just try to fix their friendship like how adults would? Apparently not. He shook his head, "No I haven't.. I haven't spoke to her since graduation" He stated as he looked down at his hands which were placed on the table. "But I have seen a certain blonde around.. Stephanie.." He said removing his gaze from his hands and back up to Nate. He wasn't sure if his response to this would be full of anger or what. All he knew was that he was going to find out. He wanted to set things straight with Nate even if they had to argue a bit first. The arguing would have to wait a few seconds though as Rixey came over to their table holding Seth's milkshake. "Thanks" He said with a fake smile as she set it on the table in front of him. He carefully grabbed it and took a sip. It tasted very good, almost distracting him from the current situation until he looked over at Nate again.

As Nate heard Seths reply, he frowned slightly. So Seth and Kristina weren't talking anymore, for some reason he found that upsetting. He knew that Seth and Kristina had been childhood friends, that they'd been best friends since they were kids.. and for some reason that reminded him of Blake and Sarah. It was kind of the same situation though wasn't it? The past relationships, I mean. He couldn't imagine how it would of been if the three of them had lost touch after high school, if suddenly he didn't have them around. It would suck. Was that how it felt to Seth? That he'd lost one of his oldest friends? Suddenly, Nate felt a little guilty. He felt sorry about that, because no one deserved to lose their friends.. Oh.. he said, caught off guard by the guilty tone in his voice. He cleared his throat then, he had to try to act like he didn't care though, Seth didn't deserve that much sympathy right? Not when his sister had gotten hurt. He continued though, Sorry to hear that.. I guess he said.
The thing was that he shouldn't be feeling all that bad though. I mean, wasn't it a good thing that Kristina was out of Seths life now? Sad but good? That way nothing like that would happen again, that way Steph wouldn't get hurt anymore. This was just too confusing. A part of him wanted Seth and Steph to get back together though, that part of him would never admit it. He just knew that if Stephanie was with Seth then she would be much more happy, he knew that they were probably still in love with each other, and he also knew that Seth wasn't a bad guy. he may of made some stupid decisions but he wasn't a jerk or anything, not a player and he probably felt bad about what happened. So yeah, Nate knew that much but he was still pissed. He was still upset because he hated when Stephanie was upset. He hated when anyone he cared about was upset. So that was what was holding him back and that was why he was still being a jerk with Seth.
As he heard the other part he looked at Seth a little confused. Before he could ask though Rixey had come up and given Seth his milkshake. A few moments after that she'd come back to give him his ice cream, instead of working the charm to full point like he usually did he just gave her a small smile Thanks.. he said. He then looked at Seth and blinked a little, still trying to figure out what to say. You talked to Steph.. he stated, and then nodded slowly .. And what does that mean? he asked, sounding confused a little. .. I mean, did you two talk? Are you alright now? he asked. As he waited for his answer he grabbed the spoon and dug it into the cold ice cream, taking a bite of it. As always, it was amazing. He looked back at Seth and waited for an answer, did something happen between them? Had they gotten back together? Surely Steph would of told him about it? His mind was going on overdrive with questions but he looked calm.

Seth was slightly surprised when he heard the tone of Nate's voice. It seemed like he was a little sad that things had fell through between Kristina and himself. It almost looked like it had surprised Nate too. He probably didn't mean to sound sad about it. But it was sorta good though, it made him think that maybe he still did care. That their friendship wasn't totally wrecked. It was possible wasn't it. Sorta seemed that way too. Or at least that was what Seth was picking up and he was hoping that he was correct. He sipped his milkshake and then gave him a slight nod, "Yeah.." He said with a dull tone, "It's probably for the best though, i guess.." He added before taking another sip. Sure he missed Kristina, they were best friends for almost eighteen years but it just got so awkward after they kissed. He had picked Stephanie over her after all, he clearly stated to her that he loved Steph and not her. How were they suppose to stay best friends after that? It was just to weird, they were unable to do it. Now she was out of his life and Steph was reappearing into it.
Holding onto his milkshake he waited for Nathaniel's reply. He was a bit nervous about it because it was hard to say on what he'd do. Would he be angry that he had talked to her? Would he be okay with it and want to know more? Or might it be a mixture of both. It was hard to say. He couldn't really tell but one thing was certain, he seemed confused. You could tell from his facial expression, it was full of confusion now. When he asked if he had talked to Steph he nodded and then listened as the young man continued, "Well I don't know.." He said slowly replying to his first comment, "I mean I think things are okay now.. well I hope that they are.. we're hanging out together on the weekend so.." Seth said as he looked down at his milkshake but then back up at Nate. When him and Steph were talking it seemed like it was a date. Well Seth asked her to go to the club, she said yes. That seemed date like didn't it? That's what he thought at least.
Although it was possible that he just had it in his head that it was a date. Maybe he just thought that because of the fact that he was still in love with her. He couldn't help himself. Of course he would never call it a date in front of anyone, especially Steph just because he didn't want to jinx it or in case she didn't feel the same way about it. Maybe she just thought about it as two friends hanging out together. That wouldn't be that bad but he preferred her to think of it as a date. Now that thought kept popping up in his head. What did she think of it? Did she think of it as a date? Or what? His thoughts were soon interrupted when Rixey came back and set his cheeseburgar and fries on the table in front of him. He gave her another smile and watched as she walked away. He tried to put the previous thoughts out of his head as he looked down at his food and picked up his cheeseburgar. He quickly took a bite out of it and began to chew as he waited for Nate's replies.

Nate nodded slightly as Seth said that it might be for the best. Once again he was trying really hard not to feel bad about it. Thing was that even though he may not be all that happy with Seth at the moment, he still didn't want him to be upset. They were still friends, right? On some level.. I mean, there was no way that he would ever hate Seth, he knew that. It had been a kiss right? And he knew that it was probably an accident. So yeah, if it hadn't been an accident and if Seth was bragging about it, then he would of gotten mad and maybe then he would hate him but that was not the case. So even with knowiing that, he still felt that he needed to make Seth feel a little guilty. There was no way he was letting him off the hook without at least that much. What? Nate could be a jerk, so sue him.
"Well I don't know.."
What did he mean he didn't know? Now Nate was more than just a little confused. He was about to ask him again but he stopped himself, not wanting to sound like he wanted to know that bad. But this was his sister you were talking about, he wanted to know what was going on in her life. And speaking of, why couldn't she of told him any of this? If her and Seth were back together, surely, she would of told him? Unless she did and Nate just forgot about it? He scanned through his mind, trying to remember. No, if it was something important like that there was no way he could forget it. Maybe he was just over analyzing things? Getting too into this new piece of information instead of waiting to hear the rest of it..
"I mean I think things are okay now.. well I hope that they are.. we're hanging out together on the weekend so.."
Nates eyebrows furrowed together in confusion as he heard the next thing that came out of Seths mouth. Now he was more surprised than before. Wait.. you mean.. hanging out as in.. on a date? he asked, sitting up a little straighter. Was this a good thing or a bad thing? Nate had no idea. He only knew that he actually did want Seth and Steph to get back together, because it didn't take a rocket scientist to know that they probably still had feelings for one another. Again, he would never admit that. Now if only the two of them finally realized that right? And Nate had wanted so many times to tell them to get a clue but he kept stopping himself. But now it seemed as if they realized that without Nate having to say anything to them... He looked at Set, and thought about it for a moment.. Are you two getting back together? he asked.

Taking another bite of his cheeseburger Seth looked down, avoiding eye contact with Nathaniel. This conversation was just well awkward pretty much summed it all up. He was sitting with his ex girlfriend's older brother. Most guys didn't have to go through with this and unfortunately Seth had to. Okay so really he didn't have to, he just wanted to. He wanted to fix the friendship that he had with this guy. He missed it. He had thought that it was over with just like his relationship with Stephanie but now that they were all back at the same university there was a slight chance that they would be able to repair it. This was his chance to give it a try, put in some effort for it. Hopefully somewhere inside of Nate he was feeling the same way as Seth. Well that's all he could hope for. When he didn't reply to anything yet he watched him a little more carefully. Looking through his sunglasses at him he noticed that it appeared that he was now in deep thought. Almost as though he was thinking hard on each word Seth had said. Trying to figure out what everything had meant.
Watching as the young man's eyebrows furrowed more he listened as he began to speak. Seth felt a little bit of shock overwhelm him. It seemed like Nate was trying to figure out the same thing that Seth was. Was it not a date? Or was it a date? How was he suppose to answer that question. If he said date, Nate might run back to Steph and tell her this. Then Steph might get mad or something but then if he said that it wasn't then once again he still might run to her and spread that along. She might get mad? Sad? Annoyed? It was hard to say what her reaction would be but both scenarios played over and over in his mind. But then he realized who he was talking to, Nathaniel Devine. Okay so he was Stephanie's brother but he was also Seth's friend. He wouldn't go around telling people things if Seth told him them in confidence, knowing that he wouldn't tell anyone else. That's what he just had to put in his mind. Taking off his sunglasses he set them down on the table by his plate. He looked down at his food but then back over at Nate. "I'm not sure, I don't know if she thinks of it as a date or if she just thinks of us hanging out as friends" He answered truthfully and then ate a couple French fries.
Hearing Nate's next reply almost made Seth choke on his French fries. He just asked if they were getting back together. Now that was an awkward question. A question that he always wanted the answer too. He was in love with Stephanie. There was nothing about her that he didn't like. He wanted her. Wanted to be with her. Of course he wanted to get back together with her. He'd get back together with her in a second if he could. But that was the thing, he didn't know if he could. He didn't know if she wanted to. What if he suggested it and she turned him down. What if he poured out his feelings to her and she just laughed in his face. He wouldn't be able to handle it. Rejection was something that he didn't want to go through. Although there was that slight chance that she wanted to be with him too. What if she did? What if she did and he never made a move. What if they both kept their feelings a secret? Oh god this was complicated. He just wanted to rip his hair out and yell as loud as he could. But that wasn't the best idea due to ripping out hair would be painful and as for the yelling, well he'd look like some fool. He should at least try to keep some of his dignity. If that was possible. "Dude, I don't know that either.. but please don't tell her anything because the truth is.. I think I want to.. actually i know that I want to.." He said finally admitting to someone that he still liked her. It felt good to get it off his chest he just hoped that Nate didn't get mad.

Nate was a little annoyed when Seth said that he wasn't sure either. Jeez, it sounded like Seth was just as confused as he was and that wasn't good. Wasn't he supposed to know this stuff? He was the one that was going on the date, or whatever you were supposed to call it, thing.. Nate was about to tell him just that but once again he stopped himself as he realized that he couldn't blame Seth. His sister probably made it confusing or soemthing, taht was just how girls were: confusing. Or maybe Nate was just clueless. Or maybe it was both? He had no idea, but he knew that he shouldn't worry about it much because that was just the thing about genders. He was sure that it was supposed to be like that, they weren't supposed to completely understand what was going on in one anothers heads. Though really, that was probably a really good thing. He was sure that if the girls went into his head they wouldn't be too happy with what was in there, since after all Nate was your typical hormonal teenage boy times a thousand. So not his fault! It was just the way that he was!
The guy was taken aback when Seth seemed to start choking on his fries. His eyes grew a little wide Hey, you okay dude? he asked, frowning a little. What? What had he said? Nate was confused again, but he realized later that it was probably because he asked if they were back together. Right, he seemed to be asking a lot of awkward and confusing questions lately, huh? All in just a few minutes time. That wasn't really his fault though, the suspense was getting to him, he just really wanted to know what was going on. Nate wasn't the kind of person that liked being left in the dark, especially when the people he cared about were involved. It was driving him insane, he realized that he should really call Stephanie sometime and just ask her a million questions about that. IT was his job wasn't it? Besides, Nate could get away with those questions right? He was her brother so he was allowed to bother her and harass her with questions, it was in the handbook. Or at least if there was a handbook for siblings then it should be in there, thats what Nate thought at least. Besides, since Seth didn't seem to have many answers maybe Stephanie would? And if she didn't.. well then he might just go crazy with not knowing and tell them both to hurry up and figure it out. He looked at Seth as he thought about that, he was still waiting for his old friend to answer his question, whether he knew the answer or not.
Nate raised both his eyebrows when Seth finally spoke up. Though he wasn't shocked with what he said, knowing that he probably did all along. As he realized that he smiled a little, slightly breaking the whole mad cover. What?! He was jsut glad that one of them finally admitted it. Really, it took long enough. Though now Nate was confused because he didn't want to stay mad anymore. He shook his head when Seth told him not to tell her Don't worry I won't.. he said. After a moment of thinking about it, he went on Not because I don't want to but because I shouldn't be the one who does. It should be you. I mean, Seth, man, why don't you just get over it and finally tell her? he asked, in an obvious tone. He looked at him seriously Come on dude, just tell her what your telling me. Even though she doesn't say it I'm pretty sure she still cares. Why else would she want to go out on that date - or not date? he asked. Really, if she was still mad she probably wouldn't want to right? He smiled Besides, she's actually happy when she's with you so its about time that comes back he said.

Once he answered Nate's first question. The one about him not knowing whether it was a date or not he realized that he really should know these things. Sure girls were confusing. There probably wasn't one man in the world that could understand them all of the time but this was something that she should have told him. Or that he should have known. It looked like it was slightly annoying to Nate and he felt the same way now. Why couldn't they have just said that it was a date so that this confusion had not happened? That would have been so much easier. Seth would have really liked that. But they hadn't so he was left clueless and in the dark. He had no idea on what she thought about it. Being clueless was not fun. He hadn't really went through this before. Usually he could always figure out what was going on but not now. He was just going to have to wait and see what happened. Maybe he would be able to find out what it was when the 'date' actually happened. The only other way he would be able to get any information would be if he asked Nathaniel to ask her about it. Maybe make a few hints and just find out if it's a date or not. He couldn't do that though. As much as he wanted to know he didn't think he could ask that of Nate. Sure he was her sister and was suppose to always ask questions but on his terms. He couldn't ask them because someone else asked him to check it out. Even if it was Seth and it was for a good reason. He just couldn't do it.
When Seth was choking on his fries he pulled his hand up to his mouth so that he was covering it. Once he got the food down and stopped coughing he nodded. "Yeah I'm okay" He said and then took a drink of his chocolate milkshake. Nate had frowned a little when he was choking. Almost as if he did care and was worried. Maybe their friendship was going to be saved after all. That was great. Except for the choking part. That was never fun. He hated it. But that was beside the point. He had just told Nate that he still liked Stephanie. Sure he hadn't given him the whole truth, that he was still in love with her but he pretty much admitted it all. Setting the milkshake back down on the table he listened as Nate began to talk. Nate wasn't mad and he wasn't going to tell her. But he also wasn't mad. Everything that he was saying was well nice. It was good to hear that. Someone was finally trying to push Seth to do something that he really needed to do. Well he was telling him to do it. Saying that he should do something was a lot easier than actually doing it. Especially in this situation. The thought of actually telling her was great yet terrifying all at once. It was hard to believe that that was possible but it was. It would be great because then he could just put everything out in the open, tell her about his feelings and there was the possibilty of them getting back together. But then there was the fear of rejection and ruining their friendship. It was tough.
Which was the right decision? That was what was on his mind right now. That and the stuff that Nate had said. He ran over the young man's comments. There he went again. That was the old Nate. The old Nate that was like a mentor to Seth. Helping with decisions and giving him guidence. He was like the Jedi Master and Seth was the Padiwan. Okay so that sounded geeky but it just came to mind since he loved Star Wars. Plus that's how it was. He smiled a bit when he said that she was happy when she was around him. He liked that Nate had picked that up. It was nice to hear too. But then he began to bite his lip, trying to think of the right words to say. He let out a quiet sign, "Dude you're right and I want to, I really do it's just hard. I'm scared" He finally said, "I know that might sound stupid but you know she never use to talk to me but if she did it was something mean or rude. At the time I was use to it but then we started hanging out and began dating, it was the best thing that had ever happened to me. Then she was out of my life again, it was horrible. Basically a living hell for me, I don't want that to happen again, I just don't want to mess up" Seth said with a serious but sad tone. "I'm scared that if I tell her about my feelings she might not feel the same way anymore. I didn't mean to hurt her. Almost every day I wish that I could go back in time and stop the kiss from happening." He added and sighed as he propped up his elbows on the table and held his head in his hands.

Nate knew that he would forgive Seth eventually all along. Sure, what he did was wrong, but everyone made mistakes right? And again, judging by what Seth said, when he said that he still likes Steph, it meant that he regretted making that mistake. It wasn't like Seth was going around with a huge smile on his face telling the whole world about how he had so much fun breaking his sisters heart. No, Seth was a nice guy, he wasn't a jerky kind. He wasn't harsh like that. Nate knew that some people were like that though, Some people actually enjoyed breaking girls heart, they used it as a game and found that it was fun to do. He knew there was a clique for those kinds of people in the school, the heartbreakers. The same clique that Nate was in, the same friends he had and at times Nate can be like that as well. Sure, he could be a player but Nate wasn't the kind of guy that liked to intentionally break peoples hearts. It wasn't like he wanted to. That was why he stayed with the one night stands and flings, he found that it was much safer on that side of things. That way no one was getting hurt and there was no way someone could say he was cheating. That was the reason why he was in the clique, because of that way of breaking peoples hearts. But if he was with a girl that he cared about then no, he was totally loyal and romantic.
It would be good to have Seth as his friend again, it would make things so much easier. It was hard not really talking to Seth because he would feel really bad whenever he was being a jerk to him. Why? Because he always knew that at some point Seth didn't deserve that. besides, Seth was one of those friends that was hard to find, you know, one that you can actually talk to. It wasn't just some of the stupid talk that he had with some of his friends, you know the talking about girls and stuff like that all the time. And again, now that Seth and Stephanie seemed to be working things out it would make things easier. He wouldn't have to feel awkward about Stephanie feeling weird. When Seth mentioned that he was scared Nate shook his head No, don't worry I get it.. he said, when Seth said that he didn't want to ruin the friendship. He was kind of in that case himself with Blake and Sarah. You know the two girls he couldn't choose over? He would lose both of them if he told them wouldn't he? That was why he winced a little and then added ... kind of with a grin.
Listening to Seth tell him about how it was before Nate had to grin a little, hearing about his sister being rude. That was probably in the genes or something, huh? But really they made up for it later right? Just don't mess with them and they would be completely fine and so would you. He opened his mouth about to tell Seth that Stephanie probably did feel the same way about him but stopped becase again, Stephanie should be telling him that, just like Seth should be telling her how he feels. That was why he said, Well, you never know if you don't try right? Just tell her, I'm sure she won't get too pissed off at you for telling her the truth. Besides, from what I see the two of you belong together. Tell her and just see what happens, or else you'll regret it if you don't Nate said. Wow, now only if he could give advice like that to homself. Actually listen to it. He looked down at his ice cream then which was totally melted now, he grabbed the spoon, mixing it a little more. He knew that some people found that gross but he liked it when it was in between. Though now it was past that stage. He put the spoon back down and looked back at Seth.

Still holding his head in his hands he looked down at his plate of food. The cheese burger was pretty much gone. Just a few more bites and it would be finished however there were still many fries. He didn't think that he would be able to finish them. When he had first come here he was starving. He had had a serious craving for some good food. But now it was in front of him, it tasted great but all of this talk about Stephanie was really getting to him. She was the only thing that was on his mind right now. Food and hunger had disappeared. They were the last thing he cared about right now. That was probably not healthy but still. He couldn't help it. It happened to him some times when he was thinking about her or something else that was serious. After their break up he hardly ate. His mom would make big delicious meals in hopes of cheering him up but he wouldn't touch it. It just wasn't appealing to him. All he could think about was her and his heart that had been broken. During that period of time he had also had many sleepless nights. Many nights when he would just stand by the window of his old apartment, staring out at the lights of New York. Sometimes he wondered if she was doing the same. Those nights still lingered though. It had happened a couple days ago when he was trying to fall asleep in his dorm. He wasn't able to drift off into a nice sleep so he left and wandered around the campus, trying to clear his head in the night air.
When Nathaniel said that he understood what he had meant he lifted his head from his hands and gave a small nod. Just to show that he heard what the man was saying. There were so many things running through his head right now though. It was hard to concentrate, hard to figure things out. People had told him to try and move on, that she wasn't worth such a big fuss. That he should be a man and just take it. Leave and forget about her. They were wrong though. He knew it. He had told them too. She was worth it. She was amazing and so very special to him. He was in love and there was no way that he would give up. She would know of his feelings sooner or later. They would come out eventually. Seth just really hoped that he would be able to build of the courage to tell her before it becomes too late. He would have to tell her on the weekend. On their date. Or what ever the heck it was. He would just make sure that it was a good time and confess it all. It needed to be done. That's what his friends were saying now. They were meant to be. They had to be. Otherwise how would they have ended up in the same state and the same university. It was fate. It just had to be.
"You're right. That's all I can say" Seth finally said after thinking over what Nate had said. It was all true. If he didn't tell her he'd regret it. Especially if she found someone else. He wouldn't be able to take that. That was why he needed to make a move. Needed to tell her everything that was on his mind. Do exactly what Nate was saying. Suddenly a spring of determination flew into Seth's body. It was going to happen. He would do it. There was no backing down. When ever he could, whenever there would be a good opportunity he would say it. Just put it out in the open. Then he would just have to wait and see what her thoughts on it were. Hopefully they would be good but if they weren't well at least he had put in an effort and tried. As long as he told the truth he should be okay. "Dude I'm gonna do it. I have to. I mean I almost did, when we were talking the other day. We were having like this nice moment but then my stupid phone started ringing and it was totally ruined because I had to go." He explained as he sighed slightly. He was glad that he was a bit more confident about it now but still. He wished that they had not been interrupted last time. If he had told her then who knows what might have happened. For all he knew they could've been back together by now. "This time though I'll make sure that there will be no interruptions. None." He added as he looked over at Nate.
