Seth Alexander Jorden stood in the doorway of his new dorm room at the University of Miami. A smile was spread over his face. He was incredibly happy right now. He was far away from New York, far away from everything. Everything that was part of his past was now left behind. It was time for a new start, the beginning of his future. He now had a clean slate, he could do things differently this time, everything would be better now. There was no doubt about it. Sure he missed some of his old friends but still, he'd move on. Find new friends. He just wanted to forget about everything that had happened to him and he would, hopefully. All of the thoughts that were going on in his head were interrupted by the suitcases that he was holding. He had forgotten how heavy they were. But now that he was reminded he felt that it was time to set them down somewheres.
Walking farther into the room he looked around. He was going to be living in room 100. Right now it was just him living there but later on he'd probably get a roommate. That wouldn't be too bad, he just hoped that whoever he was going to have to live with wasn't mean. He hoped that they would get along. But if they didn't that would be fine too, he was use to people not liking him so he'd just ignore it. Seth looked over at the two beds and then decided which one to take. He walked over to it and set his luggage down on it. Stretching he let out a small yawn. He was rather tired from having to get up so early this morning. Now it was time to do some un packing. He opened up one of the suit cases and began to take out some of his stuff. He placed his clothes in one of the dressers and then some of his books on a shelf. Almost fifteen minutes later he was finished. Holding his notebook and pencil in his hand he looked around the room. It was still pretty plain looking however now you could tell that someone was living there.
Still holding his pad and pencil he headed for the door. It was time to do some exploring. Roam around the university, see what he could find. Maybe he'd meet some more new people, that could be cool. He closed the door behind him and then set out down the corridor. Seth met up with a couple people along the way but didn't chat long. It was mostly a hi and saying who he was. Just becoming acquainted with a few people. They all seemed nice so far. Reaching another door he opened it and then walked down the steps. A slight breeze hit him as he was now outdoors, walking around the grounds. He could see the football field and many other students walking around. He wasn't technically sure where to head first. Maybe he'd just go somewheres where he could sit by himself. That would be nice. He walked along a path and spotted a small picnic table. There was no one there at the moment so Seth took that as his opportunity. He went over to it and then took a seat. Setting his note pad down on the table he opened it up and began to draw. While drawing he wondered if anyone would wander over to where he was.

'Ill never turn my back on someone who loved me' If there was one thing that Stephanie Devine loved about being in Miami it would be the freedom, yep, if she had to pick just one out of the many things she loved about this place that would be it.All of her drama from her high school days seemed like dreams that she had forgotten, well maybe not forgotten.Everything was still a constant slate in her mind but now she had a chance to change, to not live up to the crappy image she had been given.Of course there was nothing different about her personality, she was still the same old Steph she just knew that nobody here knew of how she used to be, everything that happened with her old friends and enemies and such, so there was no way anybody could put her down. The worst they could do would be to call her the Dumb blonde Bitch, but then again she was used to it.Breathing in the fresh air from the Campus she stood face to face with her new dorm room, the excited smile spread wide across her perfect pink lips as she opened the door quickly wondering if her room mate would already be there or not.Seeing that she wasn't she gave a small sigh, she loved meeting new people, especially now, she wanted to make as many friends as possible and just do well in her studies.
Setting her pink suitcase beside the bed near the window she sat down to test the overall comfort rating of the bed, hmm it seemed OK, not like her bed back at home in New York but it would do.She looked around what seemed like a small compact space compared to what her old house used to be like, memories of that huge penthouse with the indoor and outdoor swimming pools, three levels and too many bedrooms to count seemed to flood through her mind as she gave what seemed to be a disappointed facial expression.Forgive her for acting like a spoiled brat at the moment but in some ways thats what she was and even though she was nineteen now that side of her hadn't seemed to have faded just yet.Pushing away her negative thinking she stood up and looked out of the window, pushing her dark sunglasses to the end of her nose as she examined the weather. It was a bright, sunny day, perfect to have a your of the university while she could, after all her free days weren't going to last forever and she wasn't going to stay cooped up in this room waiting for people to approach her.
Strutting down the halls of Diamond Heights Stephanie thought about what it was going to be like to be a college student now, everything seemed so different, the fact that she was no an adult scared her aswell as made her feel important. But she shouldn't be worrying right now, today was about getting to know people, finding out her peers and exploring the site. She made her way through the campus looking for a place to sit and concentrate on some of her designs, she always thought she would be the one making the clothes but ever since her interest in Fashion sparked to a higher level she had the knack for designing them, much to the help of one of her previous boyfriends Seth, he was an amazing artist."Oh my god" she said to herself as her trail of thought completely halted, the statement 'speak of the devil and he will appear' really fit the moment right now, there she was standing a few yards away from the table that Seth jorden was sat at , how could this be possible? she moved away, she forgot about him, she had to get away.Turning around to make a vast escape she hoped he hadn't seen her, but hoping wasn't going to prove right.

Seth sat at the picnic table totally spaced out. He was in his own little world right now. He was in his element. Drawing was something that he had always been good at. It was his hobby, his passion. He loved it. The way you could create so many different things by only using a pencil and your imagination. It was just so awesome and it made it even better because he happened to be amazing at it. Sure he'd never actually say that, he had never been one to brag about anything but there had been tons of times that he had been told that he was. Complimented about it. He enjoyed being recognized for a talent. At first he was a bit surprised and always felt awkward about it but now he's use to it. When he was back in high school his art teacher would always come around, trying to see what he was working on. If he had made something excellent she would usually show it to the younger students. She sometimes even used some of his drawings or projects as examples of what she was looking for. That teacher had always been interested in his work, she had recommended that he should check out and apply to UOM because of their amazing art program. It was obvious that the boy had taken his teacher's advice because here he was now, a high school graduate at UOM ready to further his studies and his career as an artist.
Moving his pencil in certain motions on the paper his concentration was suddenly broken. A girl's voice had interrupted his thoughts. The voice sounded slightly familiar, he knew he had heard it before but from where? He looked up from his drawing in the direction that the voice had come from. He was curious to see who it was and if he actually knew the girl or not. A wave of shock hit him when he spotted the girl who was still looking at him. It couldn't be. They were suppose to be millions of miles away from each other. She was suppose to be just a mere memory, something that would disappear later on in his life. How could this have happened, it couldn't be real. But it was. It was her, Stephanie Devine. He knew it, not only by the way she was acting but he knew it was her voice. He could recognize that voice anywheres. But still, he was so surprised. What would she be doing here? Dumb question, it was a university. She had obviously applied to UOM and got accepted also. What should he do? Should he talk to her? Suddenly Seth was so confused. He wasn't sure. They had broken up back in high school and after that they hardly ever spoke. He had missed her a lot but tried to distract himself by paying more attention to his studies. It didn't work well though. She had still stayed on his mind. When he moved to Miami she had disappeared. She had felt like a dream that just didn't exist anymore. That had all ended now. They were only a couple yards away from each other.
Blinking he realized that it must have looked like he was staring. Which was true in a way but he couldn't help it. She was gorgeous. She was even more gorgeous now. More than he had remembered. She looked slightly older but she still had that look about her. The look that caught everyone's eyes when she walked in a room. He pulled his eyes off of her, looking down at his drawing but then realized that she was turning around. It looked like she was trying to get away. As she started to walk away he stood there and sighed a bit to himself. He should just let her go, shouldn't he? They had left on a bad note. Yeah he'd just leave her alone. That's what his brain was saying however his heart and body wasn't agreeing. He felt as he stood up, grabbing his stuff he moved away from the picnic table. "Stephanie hold on" He said and then walked over to her. This would be awkward but he couldn't let her get away. He still had feelings for her, he knew that he did. That was why she hardly ever escaped from his mind but unfortunately they probably wouldn't get back together. She was beautiful, popular, she was bound to have a boyfriend by now. Seth just wanted her to be happy even if it wasn't with him. However he did want to try and become her friend if he could. "Umm, hey" He said when he reached her, he was surprised that his words came out right. He felt so nervous, like the first time he had spoke with her at that club back in New York.

'Ill never turn my back on someone who loved me' 'Oh my God' 'Oh my God' Oh my God' was the main statement circling the girls mind at the moment. What the hell was going on? What happened to moving on and being somewhere new where nobody knew her for her bad experiences.Well now that was all out of the window there was only one thing she could do.Turn her back on him, hope that he didn't see her and run away.Of course she would have to constantly avoid him now, always be cautious of where she was going, always worry that he would be around the next corner she turned.Maybe she could get a disguise? Yeah that could work.Shaking her head at that idiotic and immature thought she squeezed her eyes together hoping this was all in her imagination, that she had just imagined Seth there because she was thinking of him and heck if she had to face up to the facts she missed him like crazy but what he did she couldn't forgive at the time, stupid now though she had fallen for him and let something stupid get in the way.Slowly turning her head back in his direction to check if it was her imagination she opened her eyes and saw that he was still there, his face as full of shock as hers, yeah she had to get away.
Clicking her heels against the floor as she began to scatter and attempt a getaway, though it wasn't really working due to the loud noise made by her shoes, only now did she notice that they were probably the loudest possible shoes on earth, not very good when she was trying to be silent and secretive. But after the first couple of steps or so she heard his voice, his amazing, sweet voice, the voice that...NO.She couldn't let herself get caught up in him again, her heart had longed for him ever since they broke up and though she had been with a couple of guys since then none of them had filled that void that had been created since Seth, she knew he was the guy for her yet her head was telling her she was stupid, that they didn't work the first time and to not let him hurt her again.Plus if he found out what happened between her and Kasey, well that just wouldn't be a pretty sight, so it was best to just keep her distance. But he was calling her, she couldn't ignore him could she? A few lines of smalltalk wouldn't hurt anybody, it was common manners of course and well she guessed she owed him that at least.
Stephanie finally turned around, happened to catch the sight of the young man walking towards her.He looked so different yet so similar, she couldn't describe it, he was still cute yet he had matured, he was more handsome than she remembered and she felt a familiar feeling of anxiety hit her stomach. She knew she had to play it cool though, for the good of herself, to pretend like she didn't care and that seeing him really didn't affect her.Trying to push forward a tone of arrogance and poison she managed a bitter smile as her lips parted "What do you want Seth?" she asked trying her hardest to not cave in "I'm busy" with that statement she let out a sigh. There she was, typical Miss Devine, the Bitch, the girl that wouldn't ever let anybody get too deep into the real her, because well she usually got hurt and since her experiences with this boy didn't end well she had to muster up all of that vicious side of her, but by now he probably knew she sometimes didn't mean to be that way, he had been there and seen it.

Not again. His nerves were starting to get the best of him. He was beginning to feel all weird around this girl again. Why? Why must this happen? Seriously, is there someone in the world who just enjoys watching him suffer like this. It was torture. Why couldn't he just be able to talk to her normally. He use to be able to. When they were dating. Back then he was able to tease her, joke around with her just have a general good time when he was with her. He could also flirt and compliment her. It all seemed so easy but now everything just felt hard and awkward. Back in high school he knew he had hurt her. He hated the fact that it had happened but it wasn't his fault. She may have thought it was but he had not been able to stop what had happened. If it were possible he definitely would've done it. Even though she didn't know it he had really fallen for her. At the time he hadn't even realized how much he had. But now he knew. He knew by the way he still thought about her constantly, the way he was having such a hard time forgetting about her, the way he couldn't go on a date with a different girl without her crossing his mind. It was almost like a curse. A curse that couldn't be cured. Her being here would make it worse. There was no escape now.
It felt like it took her forever to answer him. For a few minutes he began to think that time must've been stopped but that theory was of course proven wrong because she began to speak. Seth saw her bitter smile. That wasn't much a shock to him. Throughout high school he always received that smile, most of the school did. She had been incredibly popular and looked down upon people who were below her. Below her status wise, there was no way she could actually look down on people, especially him. She was just so short. It was hilarious yet incredibly cute at the same time. He always had thought it was but he thought so even more now because he was much more taller. He stood about 6'2" now. His height had increased quite a bit since he had left New York. He was a bit curious if she had noticed. She always use to make comments on his height when they hung out. It was odd but he couldn't help it. He missed her doing that too.
What do you want Seth The tone she had used was full of arrogance and poison. He tried his best to ignore her tone though. He wanted them to have a civil conversation. Small talk wouldn't hurt anyone would it? He didn't think that it would. It really shouldn't. "Well um.. I was just wondering how you've been" He said quickly getting his words out but you could tell that he honestly wanted to know. He cared about her and if anything interesting had happened in her life he wanted to know. He was curious to what she had been up too. How she was. He gave her a small but sweet smile, hoping that she would give him a nice reply but then heard her next comment. His smile faded to a frown but he tried his hardest to remove it from his face. "Oh, erm okay" He said, not looking at her this time. His eyes were looking down at the book in his hand. "I don't want to keep you from what ever you were doing" He said using a more quiet tone.

'Ill never turn my back on someone who loved me' Staring up into his beautiful brown eyes as she waited for a reply Stephanie couldn't help but realize how much taller he had grown. That or she just wasn't used to seeing him and he looked a lot taller, no he had definitely grown and she hadn't.She was still the same old 5"3 petite blonde and he was this handsome, dark, tall young man that she couldn't seem to look away from. Her heart was telling her she should take back what she said, that she should come out with a more teasing tone and tell him she was just joking, she actually imagined herself saying 'Gotcha!' with a small laugh and saw his sweet smile before her eyes.but as she snapped back to reality she realized his blank expression, she wasn't going to take her comments back and the reason being was because it had took her a while to build this emotional barrier she had surrounding her and now Seth was here she could almost see the cracks starting to form, to stop it from completely caving in she just had to stick to her guns and be the bitch to try and keep him away, no way was he getting to see her vulnerable side again.
Well um... i was just wondering how you've been
Typical Seth.Sweetheart.God why did he have to be like that, she had basically just metaphorically slapped him around the face with her words and yet he still replied civilly, how was it that he could just keep a calm tone and be this way around her? Didn't he care? Obviously he didn't, they had made no contact since their break up so he couldn't still have feelings for her, but then again she hadn't made an effort to stay in touch either, even if they did end on bad terms it wouldn't have hurt for them to stay friends. But she didn't want to keep thinking like this, she wanted for him to still have feelings for her but at the same time she hoped he didn't.
"how have i been?" she asked rhetorically giving a weak smile as she felt herself wanting to break out into a huge rant about how she was still in love with him and how it upset her to think she was never going to see him again "about as amazing as a girl can be who had their heart broken Seth" she once again used that tone of poison, she didn't want to hurt him but at this moment she was being selfish, caring more for her own feelings than his, which she knew was wrong but she couldn't help it.She flicked her hair behind her shoulder as she watched his eyes travel to the ground at his next comment "But you know, the past is the past, i guess it just made me stronger, more wary" hopefully if he did still like her that would probably make him feel like he didn't have a chance now, she had to be like this, she felt no other option, if she told him her true feelings then there was that risk of getting hurt again, she couldn't face it." and yourself?" she asked, giving him no choice but to continue the conversation.

Looking down at her at her he waited for her reply. When she said the question rhetorically he figured that she was thinking of a proper answer. Maybe this wouldn't be so bad after all. Yeah he was totally wrong. Couldn't he be right sometimes? Apparently not. Her comment was simply horrible. It was expected but he had just hoped that it wouldn't rise. But it had. He would have to deal with it now. He hadn't been able to back in high school when it had happened but maybe not that they were older and more mature they could at least work it out so that they would be civilized to each other. The only problem was.. well actually there were a few problems but the main one was that he didn't know how to reply to her statement. What had happened made him seem like the biggest jerk in the world. Actually you picture the biggest jerk in the world and he was even bigger than that. If that were possible. He opened his mouth about to say something but then closed it as she continued to speak. His hopes were crashed. There was no way they could get back together. She clearly didn't want to. The friendship might not even work. She was pulling it all out, being a total bitch to him. Yet unfortunately it didn't change how he felt about her. But really why did she have to come to the same university as him? Why did they have to find each other, why did he have to be so stupid as to think that they could try and have a normal conversation after everything that had happened between them.
He let his gaze drift back onto her when she asked about him. Really he had nothing else to lose now. She didn't want to be with him probably didn't want to be around him why should he care now. "Well you know me, I'm use to being alone and having a lousy life." He simply said replying to her question. He didn't go into much detail but that pretty much gave her the just. He had had a horrible time with out her. He hated every minute of his summer. He hated everything that had happened to make them break up. He even hated himself for letting it happen. He thought about her earlier statement, about being heartbroken. He wanted to say something to that. But what? He didn't break his gaze, he kept it locked on her as he thought. Nothing he could say would help much but he knew he needed to say something. "I know that you think I'm a huge asshole and I also know that I've said this many times before in the past but I really am sorry about what happened.. I wish it hadn't" That was all he could say. There was nothing else. All he could do was try and apologize again. Maybe eventually she'd believe him. He'd just have to keep doing it until she did. He was determined. He wanted her to forgive him. He wouldn't be able to stand it if she hated him forever.

'Ill never turn my back on someone who loved me' Stephanie managed to catch a glimpse of the boys attempt to speak, he parted his lips but then all of a sudden gave up on a reply all together. In some ways it hurt her that he didn't say anything back. Was this really going to be the end? The final conversation they would ever have.Because even though they did attend the same College it wasn't like they had to speak, she was majoring in fashion and she was pretty sure he wasn't, he was probably here for the art program which meant they may not cross paths as much.It seemed strange to her, strange that they had ended up at the same university after all there were plenty of them back in New York and all over the world, why did they both end up in exactly the same place at the same time? It all seemed to weird to be coincidental, she never really believed in fate but this moment seemed like a prime example.
Seeing that his gaze had drifted back upon her she felt as her stomach tied into knots, her heart began to pound a lot faster than normal and she began to get worried, that cute, innocent stare that often led her into a dream had caught her attention. That trap of chocolate brown puddles seemed to grasp her hard and not let go, she felt her facial expression changing from angry to more of one of sympathy, one of guilt and regret.Hearing his statement about his life she felt that argumentative side shoot through her, though it wasn't a bad thing, it felt like she was going to say something that didn't hurt his feelings but really give him an insight on what she thought."you never had a lousy life Seth, you had plenty of people that cared for you, good friends, you had an amazing talent and you had.." she was about to carry on and say he had her, someone that loved him but why should she say that now? it didn't matter did it, she used the word 'had' and she didn't feel like going into detail on their relationship, it was still a sore patch in her heart."...anyway that doesn't matter, but i know you still have those things" managing a small smile to hide her pain she couldn't look away no matter how hard she tried.
Upon hearing his apology she felt this unbelievable overwhelming feeling come over her, she felt like she was going to cry.Of course he was sorry, so was she but she was trying so hard to get over him, she was almost at that stage now where she was about to take the next step into just getting on with her life but now he was back and it felt like she was a baby learning its first steps all over again. Why did life always have to come back and kick her in the ass? "i don't think that.." she said weakly, of course she disapproved of what he did but she never thought he was an asshole, well maybe at the time she did but she had learned a lesson back then, that she shouldn't overreact about stupid things."i wish it hadn't too, but i think it was for the best.." that last statement really killed her to say, she almost thought she was going to choke on her words, mainly because it was so far from the truth, it wasn't for the best, not at all, it was definitely for the worst but she was trying so hard not to give into her temptations at the moment, she didn't want to break that.

Listening as she started to go on about the stuff he had it surprised him a little. She wasn't speaking negatively to him it seemed like she was trying to be positive. Trying to show him that he did have parts of his life that were meaningful. If only the things that she had said were true. Well they use to be true just not now. After the incident he lost Kristina as his friend. They had been so close for almost eighteen years and after one thing it all fell apart. Seth had chosen Stephanie over her. That made it awkward, very awkward. Sure they still talked, pretended that things were still normal but it was obvious that it wasn't. Then when graduation came they both said goodbye. Went their separate ways and haven't spoke since. It seemed so far away now yet still it was so familiar to him. There were many times that he wished everything that had happened between them had just been a bad dream. A night mare that he just hadn't woke up from yet. But he knew that, that wasn't true. Everything that happened was indeed real. It was a shame and he hated it.
As she was going on in her little rant on what he had he noticed that she had stopped. She was about to say something but then didn't finish her thought. It sorta bugged him. He wanted to know. What was the thing she had thought about but just couldn't say? He was curious about it but wasn't sure if he should ask. Clearly she didn't want to say it otherwise she would have said it in the first place. When she continued he saw her small smile but he didn't return it. He just shook his head. The way she spoke it made it seem that things were fine in his life but they weren't. "The only thing I have off of that list you made would be the talent. I've lost my best friends and the person that I care about" There he went again, saying things in more of a code. Not direct. When he mentioned losing the person that he cared for he had meant her. He just didn't totally admit to it. He didn't say it was her, he could've meant someone else. Any other person might not pick up on it but he knew that she would. She had always been able to understand him when he spoke like that in the past. In a way he had hoped that it hadn't changed. But then another thing was that he hadn't said it in the past tense, he had said care. Not cared. He still cared about her. That hadn't stopped. He would often wonder if she was alright or if she was doing fine. He couldn't help it. He just did.
Once he was finished with his little apology he watched her. Her facial expressions seemed to change. She looked so sad, like she might break into tears at any second. He hoped that his skill in reading people's emotions was off because he didn't want her to cry. He hated seeing her so upset. It always made him feel bad even if she was upset over something that wasn't his fault. "You don't?" He said after hearing her first comment. He felt a little surprised at that. He had thought that she did. He didn't blame her if she actually had, what he had done was horrible. Feeling a bit of relief he was glad to her it. It was nice to know that she didn't think that of him. Unless she was lying to him but he had a feeling that she wasn't. She wouldn't do something like that. Not during such an important conversation. Not to him. But then she continued speaking. The first part of what she said made him slightly happy, the fact that she also wished that it hadn't happened. That must've been a good thing right? But then after that the happiness faded, as quickly as it had come. He wasn't sure what to say to that so he just nodded his head ever so slightly, "I guess.." That was all he could say. He wanted to disagree with her. He thought what she said was wrong. He didn't think that at all but he just couldn't bring himself to do it.

'Ill never turn my back on someone who loved me' So he didn't return her smile. It was fine.It wasn't like she was expecting much more anyway and to be honest she wasn't even sure if the smile she gave him was one that she wanted to be returned or one that he thought he could return.Yeah it seemed confusing but she knew what she meant, there were certain sorts of smiles, one that were obviously happy and friendly, that should be returned and then others , the unsure smiles, the nervous smiles, the forced smiles and hers fell under all of the last three categories. But seeing him shake his head made her frown slightly in confusion, the same confused face she had always had, the familiar facial expression that made it evident she was puzzled and didn't understand why he was doing that action. He began to speak and for once in her life she actually listened, it seemed that Seth could have that effect on her, he made her want to listen to what he had to say because somewhere deep down she still felt like she had to impress him, that she had to make him understand she could still be decent and sweet instead of an ice queen. And then he said it, he said he had lost the person he cared about, did that mean her? was he talking about her?
Questioning it in her mind she realized she hadn't replied, that there had been quite an air of silence and she didn't want to make it obvious that she was thinking about his indirect remark so she gave double take and began to speak "You lost your friends?" she asked, this time in a tone that suggested she cared and that she wanted him to explain what happened, it was more of a sad, sympathetic tone because well she actually went through the same thing, she lost Kase,Bree and Danica, her three true friends, though all for different reasons.Kasey , she didn't even want to think about why they stopped talking it was just too awkward, Danica moved back to France and well..Bree was still in high school back in New York, everything seemed messed up in her social life at the moment."Gosh, i can relate" she said in a caring tone, letting her guard down a bit, he was the only person she could really talk to and it was nice to hear from him again no matter how much she was trying to deny it.
After a painful minute or so of fighting back tears she crossed her arms across her chest and shifted her weight to one foot as she stood in sort of a vulnerable pose, her eyes drifted from him for a second."No i don't" she stated quite abruptly as she tapped her foot lightly on the ground making her heel click a few times before stopping, it was beginning to annoy her and it didn't exactly seem appropriate at such a time in the conversation.Looking back up to him she removed her sunglasses, she was confident that she wasn't going to cry, she wanted to have a full, clear view of him, look into his eyes more than she had been able to with the dark tint masking his appearance."i mean, i did..in a way, but i don't now.." her voice seemed broken, like it was taking her a while to say her words, she hated being in awkward situations but this was a conversation that they needed to have, that they couldn't avoid it just took a lot to actually face up to the fact that this was a must. Her chestnut brown eyes shone bright as the sun reflected the color"i bet you think I'm an idiot though right?" she asked and she managed a smile, a small barely noticeable smile , she was trying to make things right, trying her hardest to not let him get to her but to also not be a bitch, she had a lot of emotions to juggle at the moment and it was tough.

Somethings never change. That statement was true and it was proven right when Steph began to frown. It's not that she was upset about something this time, she was confused. Puzzled, didn't understand or comprehend why he had done that. It was actually hard for him not to laugh at this. She still had the same confused face that she had, had before. It hadn't changed and he still found it incredibly cute. Although really that wasn't saying much now. It seemed like anything she did he would find it cute or something like that. He couldn't help it. She had some sort of effect over him. It was almost like he had been put under a spell that made it hard for him to see faults in her. He could never think of anything about her that bugged him or made him annoyed. Sometimes he wondered if that was good or not. Sure he knew she could be a total bitch at times but he didn't care. She wasn't usually like that around him and even if she was he'd just try to calm her down. That's what he always use to do and he still would do that if they were able to work things out well enough to stay friends. He didn't want her out of his life. When they broke up at first he had thought that it would be best but it was just so weird and different. It wasn't working out well for him and he had a hunch that it wasn't working out well for her either.
There had been a silence where they both just stood there. Looking at each other but were both in deep thought. Seth was still thinking but was interrupted by her voice. Her tone had changed drastically. It wasn't bitter or sad anymore it had more of a caring sound to it. She really wanted to know about it. So of course he would answer her, he nodded his head again, "Yeah, things just sort of fell apart I guess" He said and then heard as she continued, still using the caring tone. "Sucks doesn't it. I miss them, especially Bree. It's so weird being far away from my little sis" He stated, knowing that she must miss her also. Bre-Ella was close friends with both of them. She was pretty much the only person who was truly happy for him and her when they began dating. Everyone else thought that it wasn't good at all, everyone except for Bree. She was the little sister that he had never had. She was back in high school at New York while he was in college here at Miami. They tried to keep in touch but it was just hard with the different schedules and time zones. He just hoped that everything was still going well for her there and maybe in the future they would meet up again.
Seth watched her moments very carefully as she began to take off her sunglasses. When she did that he couldn't help but look into her eyes. They were such a beautiful shade of brown, so alluring. It was like that corny saying how the guy would say that he needed a map because he was getting lost in the girl's eyes. Sometimes it was used as a pickup line but normally it would never work. However Seth couldn't help but get lost in them, it was very hard not too. He blinked when she spoke, directing his attention back on her. "Well I don't blame you for thinking of me that way back then.. but I'm glad that you don't now" He said with a more quiet tone. These type of conversations were always something that he disliked, the awkward but important ones. He'd normally always look for a way to get out of them but this was one that he couldn't dodge. But then she spoke again. The comment she had said was one that Seth could use to his own advantage. Still holding onto his books he crossed his arms and shifted his weight a little, like she had done moments earlier. "Yeah, I think you are a huge idiot" He said as he looked at her but before she could say anything he continued, "But I also hope that you know that I'm lying because I don't want a slap in the face right now" He said with a small but playful smile. It had been a joke, an attempt to make things a little less awkward if possible. He waited for her reaction, hoping that it had worked.

'Ill never turn my back on someone who loved me' That feeling of vulnerability hit her hard, she was talking to him now in a nicer tone of voice, maybe still a bit of coldness behind it but she had lost all sense of bitchy comments and harsh remarks. The problem was she actually didn't care, she felt like she had to let her guard down in a way, there was no point in dwelling on the past even if she usually did hold grudges for longer than she should. But to think about it, this incident happened a year ago at the least and twelve months is a pretty long time to hold a grudge especially when friendship was still one of the cards she could play.Hearing him mention losing his friends, that things just fell apart she wished the way she lost Kasey could have been that simple, maybe that sounded harsh like she didn't want him in her life anymore but that wasn't the case it was just the fact of how it happened. She couldn't seem to stop thinking about it and in her mind began to create a reason on why their friendship was lost just in case Seth asked.
She nodded at his remark though to show she had listened because she realized she had a blank expression plastered across her face, because she was also thinking aswell as listening and she didn't want him to think that her mind was somewhere else, even though it was in a way but not too much, not enough to ignore him."Yeah i miss Dani and Bree too" she said in a saddened tone not even mentioning Kasey, hopefully Seth would have forgot all about him it had been a year right? he probably had forgot she even existed."I forgot how close you and Bree were, it was cute..i liked how she never judged anybody, she was sweet" Steph smiled a larger smile than previously as she thought about Ella, she was one of her closest friends and even though they still talked on the phone and msn occasionally it wasn't the same as when they used to be at each others houses constantly, gossiping and acting crazy. In a way she missed high school, she never really understood it when people used to tell her that high school is the best days of your life because at the time it really didn't seem like that but looking back, there was hardly anything to worry about, nothing to overcome other than drama of course.
Sweetheart.Sweetheart.Sweetheart.That word was just spinning in her head right now, the fact that she had just admitted to thinking he was an asshole and he accepted it, agreed with her even. Why was it that he could just do that? she couldn't believe that she had taken her until her senior year to realize the boy existed and that she blanked him most of the way through high school, it was crazy because back then he was her Saviour, her angel, her good influence, the only one that could tell her not to do something and she would listen, he often stopped her getting stressed out or getting into trouble because he had a way of calming her down and making her choose the right thing to do.She missed that, she missed his ways and their ways together.
But her wants and her needs were two different things, she wanted him but felt it was too much for her heart to handle."what?" she said in a serious tone as he called her an idiot, due to the seriousness of this conversation she honestly thought he meant it.But then she rolled her eyes, the same way she always used to when he teased her because she realized he was joking, that he was being typical Seth, trying to lighten the mood and as that sweet smile spread across her lips she knew his attempt had worked."some things never change do they?" she asked rhetorically as she shook her head and laughed a small laugh "Though i think you deserve that slap right now Seth Jorden".

Nodding his head he listened as she talked more about missing Danica and Bre-Ella. She then went on about how Bree was so great. It was all true though she really was a wonderful person. "Yeah I know" He said in agreement, "But even though she could let loose and act crazy at times she still had that rare wisdom about her. She seemed so mature much beyond her years. She was a great person to just go talk to about things" Seth stated with a smile as he added to what Stephanie had said a few seconds ago. They were smiling, it was nice to think back on the old times that were spent with their friends however it was a sad topic. It brought up the sad emotions that he tried to get rid of but there was no doubt about it. He missed her and all of his other friends, Kristina, Jasper, Jude. Life just wasn't the same without them. He had missed Stephanie too until he saw her now. But it was sorta weird. Out of all of them he had missed her the most and now here they were talking to each other, going to the same university. It was strange that they were reunited but he wasn't complaining, not one bit. He was incredibly glad that he had met up with her again. He just hoped that they could be friends and stay close.
Keeping a straight face when she questioned him was very hard. He wanted to just burst out laughing because she was actually believing him. Had it slipped her mind that he loved teasing people. How in the world could she forget that? Back in New York when they hung out he was always teasing her or joking around with her. It amused him, like a game. But the thing he loved was that she could always take it. She never took things seriously she'd just play too. Join in on the teasing. That had been something that he loved about their relationship. But then he saw it. The simple roll of the eyes. When that happened a grin appeared on his face. That moment right there felt like old times. She had always done that when he would make a joke or do something dorky. Plus it made him know for sure that she understood that he was only joking. There was no way that he'd actually call her an idiot. That would be rude and he just wouldn't be able to do it.
"Though i think you deserve that slap right now Seth Jorden"
When she said that he let his jaw drop in a playful manner. The conversation was becoming a lot better now, in his opinion anyway. It had a rough start but now it was becoming almost normal and he was glad for it due to the fact that he loved when they had conversations that involved teasing and just joking around. Plus even though it was quiet it was good to hear her laugh again. A remark quickly flew into his mind and he grinned as he spoke, "You wouldn't dare" Seth said the grin still plastered on his face. But then he was about to say something else when he shook his head, "Nevermind I retract my earlier comment, just erase it from your mind please" He said quickly with a small laugh, "And please don't hurt me" He added as he backed up a few steps away from her. Just far enough so that he was out of her reach. If she wanted to hit him or something she'd have to come closer now.

'Ill never turn my back on someone who loved me' Friendly.Thats what this moment was.A friendly moment shared between an ex couple. Was that so bad? It seemed weird when it was put into that context especially when it related to her and Seth, only because they didn't end well though. But she kept telling herself that it was the relationship side of them that was broken apart not the friendship, they could make an effort to continue that part, right? She seemed confused in herself at the moment, like she had done a complete three sixty personality flip because to start off with she wasn't really being very sociable, she was being harsh and sharp but now she was actually trying to make a decent conversation.
And even in those areas of silence between them things didn't seem awkward anymore, maybe after all this time just maybe she realized that all it would take to make things okish between them would be to have that oh so dreaded conversation. But what was a few awkward words when you could gain a friendship from it? Hearing Seth talk about how Wise Bree was it made her think about what she would have said right now, if Steph had gone to her for advice. She probably would have told her that she had a great friend in Seth, to forget about the relationship part of it just for the moment and focus on patching things up between them as friends first.Maybe she should give it a go? For Bree-Ella's sake.Well that and because she had missed him more than she thought was possible.
"I know what you mean, i love it when you have someone you can turn to no matter what" she looked up at him uneasily, because the thought dropped into her mind of when he used to be that guy for her, when she could run to him about her problems and how things just fell apart. The smile dropped for a second but she decided to not let it get to her, all of those thoughts about advice she had previously couldn't just go to waste, she had to try like she had never tried before to make things work.So after seeing his familiar grin she let the playful smile stay on her lips before turning it into a grin to mimic his.
'here we go, this is a lot better' she thought to herself as he lowered his jaw in a joking manor. It seemed like old times now, like the conversations they used to have where they would tease one another to their hearts content and just basically act like kids. She used to love those times, it felt so bad to have to let them go.But maybe she didn't have to, he was going to be here now for at least the next three years in her life, they couldn't just not speak for that long.Lifting her hand up in the air like she was going to slap him she quickly changed her hand gesture and placed one finger underneath his chin as she pushed his mouth shut gently, giving him a full smile."Oh, wouldn't i?" she questioned, raising one eyebrow "come on Seth, you should know by now that if i want to hit you, i will" she teased then laughed when he begged her not to hurt him in a joking way, she couldn't help but enjoy this conversation now.
Old times were back."Don't walk away from me" she demanded like a spoiled brat when he stepped away a few places, she took a couple of steps in his direction "you only did that because you wanted me to come closer didn't you?" she teased in more of a flirting way than anything else. Before she knew it she bit her lower lip and wished for those words to fly back into her mouth and never come out again, did she just flirt with him? it wasn't even intentional, she got so caught up in the conversation it was just like every other one she had , she was always a flirt but to do it now? of all times, of all people.

Looking down at her when she spoke he nodded a little but thoughts hit him. Thoughts like all of the times when he had been there for her and when she had been there for him. It was sort of sad that they couldn't be like that anymore. But wait, maybe they could? If they were able to put the past behind them and work things out maybe just maybe things like that could go back to normal. They already had a close bond and were comfortable talking to each other. It was possible. They'd just have to try, well if she wanted to that is. "Yeah.. and to know that they'll always be there and never judge what you do.." Seth said letting his gaze fall upon her eyes. He stared into them for a moment as a slight silence took over but then when she smiled again he removed his gaze from her eyes and was now ready to get back to their conversation.
This was so awesome now. Things were back to normal. Truly they were. He couldn't believe it. They were laughing and joking around just like they use to. Plus she was smiling, not a fake or unsure smile but a geniune happy smile. Seth was loving this right now. Although then it appeared like she was going to slap him but suddenly she stopped, just letting her hand touch his chin as she gently closed his mouth. A sudden feeling hit him but he tried his best not to show it. It was something he hadn't felt in ages and it all just came back, just by her touch. The familiar shiver was sent down his spine but he tried to mask it all by putting a smile on his face. He listened as she spoke and nodded, "You make a good point, you are after all Stephanie Devine. If you want to do something then you'll definitely do it" He said with a small laugh.
"Who's gonna stop me?" He asked jokingly when she demanded that he should not walk away from him. A smile was on his face, he was glad that she was teasing him back now. She had joined in on the teasing and it was wicked. Then she moved closer to him and spoke once more. Seth was surprised with what she had to say. He couldn't believe what she had said. The way she had said it, the words that had came out. She was flirting with him. Why? How could this be happening? Earlier they were barely talking, she had said that it was for the best that they had broken up. Yet there she was, flirting. But he soon realized that she hadn't meant for it to come out. She had immidately started to bite her lip. He wasn't sure what he should do she seemed clearly embarrassed about what happened and he didn't want to make things awkward again. They had just been going so well, it wasn't going to stop yet. If he could help it anyway.
How could he make it less awkward. Truth was he had sorta hoped that she would've come closer. He wanted her close to him. He wanted to be able to breath in her sweet smell again. It's all he had ever wanted lately but he couldn't admit to that. No way. He needed to make a comment that could possibly make it fly by smoothly. They shouldn't stop and lose everything because of that one slip of words. No they should move on from it. He shrugged his shoulders, "That might have been the reason.. or I might have just moved away for my own safety" He replied with a small smile as he looked down at her. Hopefully that would work. Only time would tell. He'd just have to wait for her next statment.
